For the last month Bas and all his school mates practiced for a big concert, called Kantan Chamorrita. There is always a big stage. All the students of the elementary, each class separate, sing a few Chamorro song and dance with it. The middle school kids have each a band, which is amazing, so there are 6 bands, plus the school band (they play at background for the elementary). The singing and dancing was so beautiful. The kids looked so beautiful. The school has, besides of really good music teachers, also a physical education teacher that did dance performances for many years, and she did the choreography of more than 100 students! WOW! The kids get to practice for this event at least a month in advance daily, which is truly awesome!!!!!!! They have a music academy and a dance studio at school. Bas did great, he was so funny. He talked about the dancing a lot. He said that Anna-Maria first got tangled up a lot, but the last repetitions and on the day itself it went all so smoothly. I could tell he enjoyed being on that stage. My hearth melted seeing him so confident and happy on stage. He also wanted to stay until the end so he could sing a song the whole school. Afgelopen maand oefenden Bas en al zijn kameraadjes op school voor een groot concert, Kantan Chamorrita. Er is dan een groot podium op school. Alle kinderen van de lagere school, elke klas apart, zingen 2 Chamorro liedjes terwijl ze dansen. De middelbare schoolkinderen hebben een band per klas, zodus 6, ongeloofelijk. Er is ook natuurlijk nog de school band (die als achtergrond speelt voor de lagere school). Het was bijzonder mooi! De kinderen zagen er zo mooi uit en deden het uitstekend. De school heeft, naast uitstekende muziekleraars ook een turnjuf die altijd mee deed met dansvoorstellingen. Ze deed de choreografie voor meer dan 100 kinderen. WOW! De kinderen beginnen te oefenen voor dit gebeuren een maand vooraf, wat echt wel geweldig is. Ze hebben een muziekacademie en een dansstudio. Bas deed het heel goed. Hij was heel grappig wanneer hij vertelde over het concert. Hij zei dat Anna-Maria en hij eerst altijd vast zaten, maar de laatste repetities en op de dag van het concert verliep alles heel vlot. Je kon zo zien dat het fijn vond om op het podium te staan. Mijn hart smolt bij het zien van mijn heel zelfzekere en gelukkige jongen. Hij wou graag tot het einde blijven omdat ze dan met de hele school zingen. Hij zong met veel eer en waardigheid, mooi …
